Through department field trips, students put classroom learning in context, learn about internships and careers, make professional contacts, and see research in action.
Our goal is to raise $1000 to support Sociology & Anthropology department field trips that unify and involve students through travel to local and regional historic sites, museums, sites of protest, professional conferences, and more. Each year, SOA students and faculty get out of the classroom to connect with communities, scholars, histories, and activists locally and across the region. This year, SOA groups plan travel to the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum, Dickson Mounds Museum, and the annual conference of the Midwest Sociological Society.
Examples of how your gift can make an impact:
- $200 – provides van transportation for a class fieldtrip to the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum in Chicago
- $100 – covers van transportation for SOA students attending a professional sociology conference in St. Louis
- $25 – covers transportation costs for 10 SOA students to participate in a behind-the-scenes field trip to a local museum
- $10 – provides a meal for a student on a class fieldtrip
