Your gift will directly impact graduate students' lives and ability to move through the program in a timely fashion. The impact to our community is multi-pronged. Meaning, there is a local, regional, and national shortage of mental health professionals and UIS's counseling program is uniquely situated to meet our local, regional, and state shortages.
Here are examples of how your gift can directly impact a student:
- Micro-Scholarships ($500โ$1,000 each). This includes:
- Liability insurance
- Professional development and conferences
- Background checks
- Site fees and travel to sites
- Licensure exam prep materials.
- Emergency Grants ($250โ$500 each): For students facing sudden financial crises (car repair to get to site, childcare issue, unexpected medical bill)
- Materials Fund: Provide textbooks, assessment tools, or test kits needed to be successful in program.
These are real, concrete barriers for students, especially first-gen/low-income students. Your support helps us to reduce financial barriers to clinical training, keep students in our program and support their journey to graduation in the face of financial hardships.
